Conversations in HIV Prevention: Successful Strategies to Implement PrEP and Maintain Patient Engagement
Activity Summary:
The expansion of PrEP provision could help to stem the number of new HIV infections globally. Studies are underway to optimize their tolerability with novel regimens and methods of delivery in the hope that persons with diverse patterns of sexual risk and personal preferences will find chemoprophylaxis to be acceptable and beneficial. However, in addition to antiretroviral regimen tolerability and efficacy, there are clearly social and behavioral factors that impact adherence to medications and associated clinical monitoring, which remain suboptimal in some populations; developing interventions to support adherence to chemoprophylaxis will be essential.
In this episode of Conversations in HIV, the faculty engages in a thought-provoking discussion identifying strategies to facilitate successful and sustainable implementation of PrEP for specific patients to include a MSM and IDU at Risk for HIV, Cisgender Woman Without HIV and MSM with Multiple Comorbidities.
